Open house in Malaysia in not a new phenomenon. Every celebration in Malaysia have their own ways of open house. At this moment,every where in Malaysia from south to east, from east to west all Malaysians still celebrating Eidul Fitri. From house, companies and in national level it become common situation as a trademark for Malaysia and it symbol of unity. Even after two weeks celebrating it after the month of Ramadhan, most Malaysians in Malaysia being invited to attend open house. The mentality that ‘raya for a month’ is familiar with Malays Muslims in Malaysia. Thus, for Muslims from another countries like Nigeria, Arab, Afghanistan and many more who are further their studies here might face some culture shock at the first stage. This is because of culture differences. But some of them could familiar with this situation after sometimes living here in Malaysia.
The advantegous of this open house phenomenon are to strengthen the relationships amongst Muslims , sharing the happiness with every level of community and to exchange the opinions amongst the community. Because of this ‘identity’ also make our students studying abroad will miss this situation especially during ‘Raya Season’. Staying far from their family members and beloved country makes them sad and need to have strength motivation. However, the concopet of open house also will be organized by Malaysia Ambassador abroad and make our students feel the same situation at least even they are living far from Malaysia. This feeling also experienced by Malaysians who have to stay abroad for work purposes like our ambassador, Petronas workers in Sudan and etc.
In conclusion, the identity of open house in Malaysia is giving great feeling amongst Malaysians and really touching their hearts wherever they are staying. It not for Malays only but for Chinese and Indians too and other minorities in Malaysia.
